Non-CSM
Initiatives

We are not the only body of people responsible for activism efforts involving Middlebury College. Community leaders outside of our organization are plentiful and contribute so much to the culture of change on our campus. We support these community members efforts to benefit this campus and wish to amplify their voices as well. Please find a list of initiatives below, started by Middlebury community members for the benefit of our collective community: If there are initiatives you would like to see represented here as well, send us a message at csm@middlebury.edu and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Addition of a Tenure Track Position in African and African Diasporic Art

In a movement started by a group of concerned alumni and students, a letter has been drafted to send to select members of the Middlebury Administration as well as the Board of Trustees. We have signed in solidarity with their movement and hope you consider doing so as well. The link to their open letter can be found here and it can be signed on the same page.

Middlebury Cops Off Campus Project(s)

In the summer of 2020, campus activists started a movement that questions the way in which our campus engages with law enforcement in its various forms. We fully endorse this mission as these are the questions we should be currently dealing with both as a local community and a nation. They are currently collecting submissions for a new project they are working on that puts BIPOC community member interactions with Public Safety and Middlebury Police front and center. Find more information and consider submitting here.
