I wanted to join CSM because I've had ideas about how to make Middlebury a better place for BIPOC, but never had an inclusive space to act upon them. As a Latinx woman, I can attest to the fact that being a BIPOC adds an extra level of unnecessary stress on top of regular college stresses. No more students should have to face the systemic barriers, prejudices, and emotional labor associated with underrepresented minorities at Midd. What's especially important is the BIPOC leadership and representation in this organization, and I am excited to do what I can to change Midd for the better.
